Hi! I’m Josh Bergman, JD, CFA®, a financial advisor specializing in portfolio management, tax and succession planning, behavioral economics, managing concentrated positions, and sourcing alternative investments. Earlier in my career, I was a Trusts and Estates attorney, which is when I realized I am passionate about helping families navigate some of life’s most personal and complex decisions. As my career progressed, I was able to expand my expertise to financial planning and asset management, where I was part of a team that oversaw $4.5 billion of assets under management before launching my firm, JNB Wealth. Today, my goal is to work with both ultra-high-net-worth (“UHNW”) families as well as “everyday investors” who could use some help retiring a few years earlier, buying a little more house, or sending their child to a better school.

Josh Bergman, JD, CFA®, is a Wealth Advisor based in Westchester, NY. 

Before becoming a Wealth Advisor, Josh began his career as an attorney in the Corporate department of the law firm Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett LLP. He then transitioned into advising domestic and international UHNW individuals and families on income, gift and estate tax planning, business succession planning, and charitable giving as a Trusts & Estates attorney. 

Prior to joining Savvy, Josh served as Vice President in the Wealth Management group of Allen & Company Investment Advisors, where his team of advisors managed approximately $4.5 billion of assets under management on behalf of UHNW individuals and institutional investors. 

His overall career experiences make him remarkably unique. As a JD, CFA®, and someone with experience managing several billion dollars on behalf of individuals and institutions, he provides clients with broad-ranging advice that typically would require bringing in specialists from multiple disciplines.

How did you become a financial advisor?

Like many of my clients, I started my journey from humble beginnings. Starting in an entry-level role, I worked my way up to co-founding a trust company in 1999 and then a financial advisory firm in 2006, driven by a growing passion for helping others achieve financial security. Becoming a financial advisor allowed me to guide people in maximizing their hard work—not just by helping them build wealth, but also by managing it wisely to help them achieve their financial goals. 

What areas of expertise do you have?

I specialize in financial planning, investment management, and tax strategies, helping clients build and preserve wealth with confidence. I deal with a lot of concentrated positions and employ hedging strategies to mitigate risk. From ambitious young professionals to experienced executives, I am committed to guiding individuals toward achieving financial goals and laying the foundation for future generations.

What types of clients do you work with?

I have the privilege of working with clients from all walks of life, guiding them through various stages of their financial journey. Over the years, I’ve helped many gain clarity and confidence in navigating the often complex worlds of investing, estate planning, and tax strategies.

What types of strategies do you usually help clients with?

Using active macroeconomic quantitative and tax avoidance strategies, I help clients mitigate risk and help families achieve lasting financial independence. I have created a proprietary algorithm that helps my advisor team sift through quantitative investment data and pinpoint the most undervalued investment opportunities in the market. I use this information to decide which investments are right for our clients and make recommendations. These strategies aim to provide investment decisions that have been thoroughly analyzed and dissected to help maximize returns across the entire credit cycle.

Is there a unique approach that sets you apart? 

I prioritize active management using self-made models that incorporate macroeconomic analysis and quantitative research focusing on free cash flow to provide clients with strategies that are as thoughtful as they are effective. 

What is your favorite part about working with clients? 

The most rewarding part of my work is seeing the long-term impact on my clients’ lives. Helping them achieve financial independence, support their families, and leave a lasting legacy is incredibly fulfilling. Knowing that I’ve played a role in their potential success drives me every day.
